Gilda Ruta was a Neapolitan composer, pianist and concert performer acclaimed throughout Italy. A woman with a dominant and seductive personality, muse of various intellectuals, she soon discovered herself unsuitable for a social context that limited her independence and mortified her feminine dignity.
