Dumas was among the most "caricatured" literary personalities of the 19th century. The cartoons collected in this excursus are the result of a search among numerous humorous periodicals of the years 1860-65, in the midst of the Garibaldian adventure, of Dumas and of the Neapolitan stay linked to his journalistic enterprise of L'Indipendente, and allow us to grasp, in addition to the main historical fragments of Italian unity, a tasty biography in images of the author of the Count of Monte Cristo.
